Classic pre-war or even wartime: certainly this pair of images concerns itself with the delivery of good things (packages) and bad things (really bad news). Whether that would have appealed to a post office review board is uncertain. Most probably never presented, is my guess. But this is the way an artist works, trying out ideas, working to keep things fresh, avoid cliché, find truth.
